12 hour comic event

November 2, 2009

This last weekend, me and 4 of my friends (2 were drawing) decided to launch a little event. It was in preapration for the 24 hour comic day, that is happening yearly. So we gathered in the basement of my friend Serj, with our arsenal of pencil, brushes, shapie markers and paint and
stayed in there for twelve hours straight, drawing comics. Our initial goal was to do 12 pages each in 12 hours, but at 2 in the morning when I looked at what was done, I realized that I had only done 6 pages and a half… but it is ok, i’m really happy of the result, considering that it was the first time in many years that I did comics and without preparation or written scenario, pure improvisation. During the course of the event we decided to make a little home-made publication that will hold the total outcome of the event : 20 pages of comics – including 3 multi pages stories and some one-page fillers, color and black and white, plus some photos of the realisation of these pages. Here are the pages that I did, some photos of the event are following too.

Yep, I decided to motivate myself and the other artists who are working on this event by proposing them to make a little thing or two or three. This thing is a lantern, one that could have been made after the fall of society, with found and salvaged materials and that would be beautifully home-made and being able to actually light up (electricty or fire, or anything else that would be available in our setting). So the proposition is launched, particularly to Ph and Serj, but all of my good friends are invited to try themselves at post-apoc lantern making. I should post some photos of the finished lanterns here when they will be completed.

Some little photos

January 23, 2009

Here are the negative we shooted last weekend, i know that it is small, but it is only negatives printed directly on paper, no enlarging for now. I also had some problems with the cegep scanner, which seem to be dirty on the inside !?

sans-titre-1

Photos!

January 15, 2009

finally I scanned them today. These are some props that I made for fun first and that may be used in some future games (but not in the two that are coming now, I keep these props secret for my players), here it is:

this is a prop i made, that may be used for a future cthulhu live game of mine. It is a cardboard box covered with jute and attached with some rope, on one side there is a miskatonic universty stamp with the adress and on the underside the word “fragile” is written by hand. All of this was weathered and distressed to achieve that finish.

this is a little prop i made, that may be used in a future cthulhu live adventure of mine. It is made of an metal armature with papier mache on it and a texture made with wood putty, with an paint job on top of that.

this is two-pieces prop that may be used in a future cthulhu live game. It is a little glass bottle full of the strange powder of Ibn-Ghazi with a scroll of aged paper with the recipe to make some more of this powder (transcribed from the Al-Azif and crypted with two codes : one grid code and a ceasar-style code) This prop is based on H.P. Lovecraft writings, a great american horror writter.
20
prop dynamite stick, made from real dynamite photos, it is constructed on a heavy paper core and the final layer of paper is oxydized and varnished.

this is a little handheld lamp made from old lamp sockets and various metal scraps, the handle is also covered in recuperated leather. This one could serve in cthulhu live games but will surely be included in my upcoming steampunk /post-apoc photoshoot

lamp inspired of an invention of Nikola Tesla (american inventor), the tesla coil, mostly made from recuperated material, the only new pieces are the bulbs and the sockets.
So this is my completed projects and props for now, I’ve been happy to return back to physical works after a while only doing skechup plan for physical projects.

Pictures soon

January 13, 2009

Yep! I will post some pictures of my completed projects (but not the photos i took of my cthulhu live props, I will keep the surprise for the players) this week. I had some problems with them, not taking them – which was a lot of fun – but having them developped. I headed to L.L.Lozeau last week with my negative in hand and lend it to them, it will be ready in 3 days, okay. So I wait these three days and so, yesteray I retruned back there and asked for my photos, they give me the little envellope and I pay them and return to school for my sculpture course. After this one I stopped to take a look to them and what do i discover, in the envellope there was six photos (only 6?) and all the photos were of a little girl on a couch, What! i packed up all the stuff back and got to my afternoon course with the firm intention to return to the shop after. But, my classmates decides to do a little practice for an oral presentation so I was unable to get my photos. I got home, slept, waken up and finally got back to Montreal and, finally I return the little girl photos to the shop and they handed me my real photos! (I checked). so (if I find some time) I should scan these pictures this week and put some of them here and all of them on my DeviantArt page (the link is somewhere on the right).
